V rámci výzkumného směru „Prostorové modelování geografických jevů v GIS“ se katedra geoinformatiky dlouhodobě zaměřuje na problematiku dopravních analýz a modelování. V letech 2014-2016 se katedra podílela na řešení výzkumného projektu GAČR 14-26831S (Prostorové simulační modelování dostupnosti).
