The aim of this thesis is creation of analysis of Olomouc city development on the basis of existing urban plans of 20th century. Research was conducted primarily in the spatial structure of Olomouc city and in the development of the city by monitoring phases of urbanization.
In the process of analysis it is focused on the spatial structure of the city and its changes during the 20th century. In this area there are highlighted changes of the functional spatial structure that can be well monitored by urban plans. Another object of analysis is the process of urbanization, where it is focused on monitoring current problems, especially suburbanization and the related concept of urban sprawl (the uncontrolled growth of the city).
The results are shown by various methods of visualization of spatial data. An emphasis is placed on mapping outputs that capture all the observed phenomena. Among other methods of visualization there is an animation showing the growth of housing areas in Olomouc, a visualization for Google Earth in the form of KML files and a poster which shows the basic thesis of this research.
