Summary

The main goal of the bachelor thesis was to define accessibility zones to the Palacký University Olomouc and then create a set of spatial analyses to determine where the current and potential students are located. The results were then supposed to be used for the promotion of the Palacký University. In the first part of the thesis, a survey about the accessibility preferences of the students and staff of the Palacký University was evaluated. Based on its results the borders of the zone intervals were defined. After that the accessibility zones were created, both for automobile and public transport. Zones were compared to each other and places with better accessibility with the means of public transport were found. Also, the most suitable cities for daily commuting were defined and the minimal and common time of commuting from these cities was calculated. The results of this part of the work were the base for another spatial analyses.

Firstly, the faculties with the most responds in the survey were calculated. It was determined that students from the Faculty of Science are not willing to commute as long as students from the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Education. These results were based on the survey. The analysis of students origin location was conducted with the data from the university study agenda. It is possible to see the differences in spatial location in the maps of the students permanent address. After that it was found out where the applicants of the Palacký University are located and if the location is similar to the one of the current students. The analysis supported the previous results. In the end of this part the number of high schools in the accessibility zones was calculated and it was defined, which schools are the best for obtaining new students.

The last aim of the thesis was to create a set of promoting products which the university can use to lure the students to good possibilities of commuting. A set of products was made, including pen, two posters, several buttons, bookmark and a board game, which can also be used commercially. All the goals of the thesis were fulfilled.
