Summary

Bachelor's work, "Identification of features of relief in GIS environment" was realized in the Department of Geoinformatics the Natural Fakulty of Science at Palacký University in Olomouc, under the management of Mgr. Jana Kadlčíková . The aim of this work was to discover problematics connected with identification of features of relief from teoretical and practical view.

At the first was readed literature about this topic. Then was written opening theoretical section of thesis. In this section is described relief and his elementary geometric forms. Surface features were grouped according to typology and main emphasis was concerned on features able to identificate by GIS softwares.

For practical section firstly was modified data from areas „Vlčnovská pahorkatina“ and „Rusavská hornatina“. For research were defined areas 4x4 km corresponding with this type of relief (by Demek 1981). From mentioned areas were created true grids. On these grids were tested tools for identification of features of relief in introduced GIS softwares (ArcGIS 9.2, Landserf 2.3). In these softwares were researched identificated features of relief, principle of identification and tools usable for this process available. Tested tools were described in detail and also their practical usage. For the reason of semi-automatic identification was by every tool longly tested settings of input parameters infuencing results of identification. For mentioned areas of relief was created concept of optimal settings of input parameters for individual tools what should be used by future users. Through working the Landserf software brought better results. Main benefits of Landserf are: This software is free of charge, easier user environment, richer set of tools what is important for this problematics. Obtained results can be used in other disciplines too like geomorphology or hydrology.

Finally, it can be said that problematics of identification of relief features in GIS environment was enough researched and main aims were fulfilled.
