Summary

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the development urbanized area based on aerial photographs. There are used aerial photos of the city Olomouc from years 1927, 1953, 1971, 1978, 1985, 1991, 1994, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2009 in the thesis. The photographs were transformed to a coordinate system S - JTSK and they can serve as suitable sources for next work.

Area of interest is not defined in the whole cadastral area of Olomouc because of absence of aerial photographs in some periods of time. For better data evaluation of the analysis I used two areas. The first area A monitors the area since 1927 and has 12 town districts, the second area B monitors area since 1971 and has 22 town districts. In the analysis Chomoutov, Lošov, Topolany and Radíkov were not included because there aren´t any aerial photographs of these localities.

To analyse urban development digitisation of selected feature classes was made. There were chosen the network of roads and individual, housing, industrial and other build - up areas in this case. According to the final data the analysis and quantification of selected changes in study area were made. Then the urbanization processes were monitored in the city.

The results indicate that the development of roads and the build - up areas is different in the compact city and in the peripheral parts of the city. The development of all monitored elements was the same till the nineties of the 20 century. The turning point came in the mid-nineties. Those days the signs of suburbanization were beginning to show on structure of the city. World War II had big influence on the development and on also its structure of the city. There were fewer inhabitants in the city and this influenced the industrial growth in the east part and orienting of resindetial areas in the west part of town.

The results show that urbanization and suburbanization in Olomouc proceed simultaneously. This fact is the most viewable in the town district Neředín, Hejčín and Slavonín. There are more and more housing and industrial build - up areas in these locations.
