ANOTATION

The master’s thesis focuses on modelling of the suitability of the landscape for beekeeping.

The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the methods and data sources of previous similar works and describes the evaluation of individual factors. Based on the theoretical part, the relevant factors for beekeeping were selected. A wide range of factors are used in the thesis including land use, altitude, slope and aspect, average temperature and precipitation, distance from roads, density of current beehives and road-zone effect. Suitable data sources were found for all factors and the data were converted into a uniform format. A questionnaire was compiled and distributed among experienced beekeepers. Based on the questionnaire’s results, the values and weights of the factors were calibrated. Individual factors were evaluated according to their influence on the suitability of the landscape for beekeeping and given weight – the importance of the given factor. The main result of the work is a model of the suitability of landscape for beekeeping and output data sets – the suitability of the landscape for beekeeping and the suitability of a location for placing a beehive. The data is presented in the corresponding maps. The maps are described and interpreted in the thesis. The main results of the thesis are shared with the beekeeping community in a web-based map application.
