The aim of this bachelor thesis was to describe the spatial aspects of waste management illustrated by spatial distribution analysis of containers for recycling in Přerov.
In theoretical part was introduced review of common procedures, methodology, ways of visualisation and data used in waste management. Also routing of precarriage vehicles was described.
In practical part there was an aplication of GIS (Geographic Information System) in waste management was realized. The first step was mapping of all containers for recycling in Přerov. They were visualized and analysed separately for three types of saved waste – plastic, glass and paper. Then the supporting data have to been enhanced. Especially the layer of pavements was enriched by lots of new geometry and attributes which have been used in following network analysis.
The spatial distribution analyses were based on comaprison with distribution of residents in the city. All of the main analysis was realized using an ArcGIS Network analyst extension. The first was creation of service areas and the second was computation of distance from all buildings to the closest container for recycling. The results of these analyses were combined in Raster Calculator tool and map of total availability of containers was calculated. Though vehicle-routing problem wasn’t used, simple routes for precarriage vehicles were also created.
At the end of work an experimental optimization of containers deployment was realized. The results of analysis were primarily presented in maps and tables and may be used by employees of municipality in Přerov for future work.
