This thesis deals with testing accuracy and usability of low-cost 3D scanners, specifically Kinect 360, Kinect One, Asus Xtion and Fuel3D Scanify. Beside this, thesis brings recommendation to help to achieve the best possible results, which contains the recommendation of the size of the object, optimal settings and the best possible conditions for testing.
Testing of usability was based on scanning all kinds of objects. In this part of the thesis we also handled the optimal settings of the scanners and the best possible conditions for testing. Accuracy was then tested on even objects opposite to referential objects in the software GOM Inspect. Another testing of accuracy was provided on the basis of comparison of the resulting 3D models of plastic relief maps. Thanks to these results, the recommendation for the best settings was generated.
The outcome of this thesis is the process of scanning, processing of the data from scanning and creation of 3D models of the chosen objects. Digital copies of these models are available on the attached DVD. Another outcomes are the accuracy results and results of the usability of the scanners, the final recommendation and an informational poster.
