Czech dialects in an interakctive view. Documentation and ways to accessibility of the disappearing linguistic heritage as integral part of regional identities

The project aims at documentation and a map and multimedia presentation of disappearing dialect phenomena, and at creating a complex of publicly accessible instruments for these purposes. These interactive instruments not only enable to make accessible the results of dialectological research of the CLA AS CR in an intuitive and wholly innovative way, but for all dialectologists it also speeds up and makes easier the urgent task to document the rapidly disappearing language heritage of Czech dialects. The project will create two universal open instruments: 1) Software to acquire and organize the multimedia dialect data (generating a spatial database) 2) Software for multilevel organization of dialectal map bases (generating a synthetic map to be linked to the web dialectal geoportal). With help of those the dialectal data will be processed; the presentation of them will be ensured by 3) a web dialectal geoportal containing 275 dialectological maps with advanced searching and comparative functionality 4) a database of electronic documents making accessible a unique set of dialect records from more than 1000 various sources 5) a database of grammatical data and their interpolations (algorithmically reconstructed data in locations where the research was not carried out, based on close researched localities). The database will be open to expand and to become more precise. It will offer the users to choose an arbitrary data set according to the researched item. The instrumental complex built by the project will make easier the work with multidimensional dialectal grammatical data in a revolutionary way and enable the cooperation of dialectologists in rescuing and preservation of the language heritage for next generations. Within the project, there also will arise 6) 4 maps (A4) recording selected disappearing dialectal phenomena, 7) a multimedia exhibition and a series of publications and conference presentations promoting the proposed project at home and abroad.
