The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis was the analysis of the trend in time accesibility of regional capitals, in Czech called “krajské město”, and of the Czech capital Prague, from towns, in the Czech state administration called “obce s rozšířenou působností”, by public transport. The observed interval was 1990–2006 (according to the timetables in years 1990–91, 1995–96, 2000–01, 2005–06) and the present state was evaluated too. The next aim was the identification of the reasons and effects of the found changes.
The representation of the time accesibility was expressed by isochrones. So in the GIS environment there were the GRID themes created. For interpolation of the GRIDs the method of spline functions was selected. The varians of time accesibility were represented by differences of two of the GRIDs. The values of the fastest connection to “krajské město” (or Prague) were interpolated by buses and by railways. The frequency of direct routes was observed too. All data were recorded to the database, created in software Microsoft Acces. There were created the queries, which were consequently exported into the GIS environment. As the GIS environment the software ArcView GIS 3.1 by ESRI, Inc. was used. The component of this thesis are the maps of analysis and the GIS project on CD.
The results of this thesis show that the railway and bus transport have different trend of developing. Time accesibility of regional capitals is faster by railway in 75 % of cases, while the bus transport has become slower in a half of the cases. The sequence of connections in the railway transport is better, while the bus transport has canceled a lot of direct conections. The worst connection to regional capital can be found in towns Kadaň, Podbořany, Žamberk, Králíky, Dačice and Varnsdorf. There was made a comparative study of connection to neighbouring regional capitals. The worst connection is from towns Jeseník, Rýmařov and Milevsko too.
The connections to Prague have become faster in both kinds of transport. It is cause by building-up of new important communications and railway coridors, better and more modern technical base, better sequence of connection and more private investment too. Only one case of slower rail conection is from Aš and only two in bus connection are from Přelouč and Šumperk. The time accesibility from the Moravian region is better in almost all places here, in the railway transport especially due to the train SC Pendolino. The worst present connection to Prague is from northern and eastern Moravia, as to Bohemia there are the towns Aš, Broumov, Dačice and Kraslice.
