Summary

This thesis presents the results of the final part of the master study program on Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Science, Palacky University in Olomouc.

The main purpose of the thesis was to monitor variability of the chosen soil characteristics in the neighbourhood of ecotons. It was defined eight transects in the basin of Trkmanka in the south Moravia. Nearby the town Ždánice there were three of them and nearby the village Kobylí there were five of them. In these transects field survey was processed repeatedly to find out data about pH and soil moisture. Then data were confronted with the data from phytocoenologic screening (i. e. available nitrogen and salt figure).

Data were visualized as tables, several kinds of graphs, maps and animations, because of time series form of measured values. There were created two kinds of animations – grids in 3D and animated graphs with points, which were qualitatively differentiated by colours according to measured values.

Data analysis was processed on the basis of created tables, graphs and statistical analysis (i. e. averages of selected values, calculated trends, t-tests, ANOVA tests, data quality testing etc.).

Each observed transect was described in its entirety with other characteristics in smaller scale. These characteristics were obtained from maps, conversion tables, supportive programmes for soil factors etc. The informatics and thematic analysis of the programmes BPEJ v3.6 2005 and RETC v6.0 is the part of the thesis.

The synthesis of all ascertained results of each observed characteristic was the last part of thesis. There were formulated several conclusions dealing with soil variability in ecotons.

Except of the text and graphical form the results of this thesis were presented by poster form too. All created tables, graphs, maps and animations were placed to attached DVD-ROM.
