The aim of the diploma thesis is to draw up, verify and implement cartographic generalization methods of the FMI data warehouse selected layers into the 1:500000 scale. This was done by standard GeoMedia Professional 6.0 programming tools for thematic maps creation.

The procedure of generalized thematic map building was made up and it became one of the results of the work. The paper describes individual steps from original database to the generalized thematic map. The sample generalized map in the scale 1:500000 is the next result. The project which contains data described and analyzed in the thesis was made with the help of GeoMedia Professional and is enclosed on the CD.
